I push on brake; and put it in Drive; and then press on the Gas; and it die's; and like not getting power.

Have a 1990 Mitsubishi Mirage 2 door hatch back 1.5 litter. I push on brake; and put it in drive; and then press on the gas; and it die's; like it is not getting any power. But if it is in park; and start it, then it will idle; and I can push on gas; and it runs. But after that I put it in Drive; and push on gas then it die's; and has like no power; but once in a while it may have power; and go. Any Suggestions?
