its a 1990 gmc sonoma 2.5l 2wd and it has a like knock/ping in the motor could it be the knock sensor or what else might it be?

When do you hear the noise? Is it all the time or when you have a load on the engine?

it started a couple of months ago but it wasnt that loud of a knock and it just got louder and louder... yea its all the time but when i let it idle its not that loud but when i hit the throtle just a little bit its real loud idk what it could be!!!
