1990tracker shifting problems

my 1990 tracker's gear shifter has excessive play while in gear and has trouble changing into different gears, i replaced the clutch, clutch cable and gear lever itself, nothing has seemed to help. any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Below gear lever, was the bushes ( marked red) replaced?

no, i did not think that the bushings would have caused the problem, although its my first car and i'm no mechanic...

The bushings are required to prevent excessive clearance which your symptom seems to describe. Remove the shifter lever to recheck.
