I need to change my fuel sending unit

you need to drop the fuel tank to gain acess to the top of the tank where the unit is located.

thats what I figured just undo the two straps along with all the lines and electric connectors now i just wanna make sure of this to be safe can i change the sending unit an kep the same fuel pump thats in there now? cause theres othing wrong with that so i jus wanna be sure

you can but it would make good sense to change it out as you have everything down now.

thanks in advance for all your help makes sense I'll jusy spend the 180 an buy the whole assembly but my last quention is is it safe to say that its the sending unit maken my gas gauge not work every other gauge works and before when i hit the accelerater it would open then close when i'd stop now its not doing that i put 20 in my tank an i had already has gass in there an my gauge moved a lttle closer t a quarter of a tank so in your experiance before i shell out te money an time do you think thats what the problem is?

check for voltage to the sender unit. on the old trucks, there is a 7 volt signal that pulsates.

another way is to disconnect the sender connector. the gauge should go to empty or full. then ground the wire and it should go the other way.
