In for my sons car to pass inspection the srs light has to come on for a sec and turn off when turning the ignition - however his doesn't come on. What do we do. Every other type of posts are related to the light staying on - what do you do when it doesn't come on at all.

We have six kids and can't afford going to a repair shop and my husband hasn't works on SRS before but has fixed cars our whole marriage.

Are you sure the car has an air bag? Chrysler was the first manufacturer to use them on a few '88 models. Most others didn't have them until the early '90s. If there is one on the steering wheel, check the fuses first. There will always be two of them so one circuit can run the warning light if the other fuse blows. If both fuses are good, the warning light bulb could be burned out. It should light for seven seconds during the system's self test.
