1989 Plymouth Sundance code 37

23 - Air charge voltage high/low detected.

37 - Part throttle unlock(PTU) circuit, open or short detected.

Never ran into code 37 but it isn't going to be related to stalling. Will the engine stay running if you hold the accelerator pedal down 1/4"? Was the battery disconnected or run dead recently?

The intake air temperature sensor has an extremely low failure rate because it has only one component inside. Almost all codes related to it are due to wiring problems, most commonly stretched or corroded connector terminals.

yes the car runs with the accelorator down and yes the battery has been disconnected recently

Dandy. The Engine Computer lost its memory and has to relearn "minimum throttle" before it will know when it has to be in control of idle speed. Until then, you usually have to hold the accelerator pedal down 1/4" to get the engine to start and stay running, you won't get the normal idle flare-up to 1500 rpm at start-up, and it will tend to stall at stop signs. To meet the conditions for the relearn to take place, drive at highway speeds with the engine warmed up, then coast for at least seven seconds without touching the pedals.
