I have the nicer climate control heater/ac unit on this vehicle. Just replaced this climate control module because the fan wasn't working. Now fan working but no ac from the center vents(This was a problem I had before I replaced the climate control module). Cold air only comes out of the defrost or lower vents. Kind of annoying in the hot humid SC days when you want cold air on your face. Thanks guys. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Robin from SC.

I am assuming this is manual a/c where you don't set the temp if you set the temp it's different. but check for a vacuum leak start at engine then check control that you replaced as a hose may be off of that or the actuator. there are a couple see pic.if they are getting vacuum then that one is bad and needs replacing. auto parts hold have it.

Thanks HMAC for your prompt reply and the suggestions/picture but this is an automatic climate control where you set the temperature to the degree you want and the fan automatically adjusts the speed for you. There are plenty of these still on the road and in the junk yards. I'm sure you're familiar with them.....the boxy type cars. GM made my model from 1985 through 1990. You really have a lot of experience and you sound like you're my age. I suppose your diagnosis for my auto climate control would be the same as for a manual one but you said it's different. I'm inclined to agree with you....that it's either the actuator or a vacuum leak. Is is a bear to get to the actuator? The local dealer wanted $1100 just to replace the climate control not to fix the vent problem. I found a used climate control module @ a u-pull it place for $25. You can write me direct if you wish @ [email protected]. I have the original GM mechanic's manual on order. Hopefully it will help too. Many thanks. Sincerely, Robin.

Dear hmac300. Is this heater/ac duct control valve hard to get to? I don't think you have to take the dash out, do you? I'm going to get to it this week and thanks for all your suggestions. First I'll check for vacuum at the actuator. If I have vac, then it must be the actuator itself. That sounds about right, doesn't it? The above troubleshooting guide was too small to print and I couldn't get it to print anyway. Maybe it'll be in the Shop manual I ordered. Thanks, Sincerely, Robin. I'm looking forward to getting a/c out of the center vents. It's still very humid in SC.
