no fuel

I think maybe you have a WRANGLER......NOT A CJ 7.

Does it sound like it's trying to start? (coughing and spitting)

Or is it a steady.....whir..whir..whir..whir?

Does a shot of starter fluid (or 1/2 oz of gas) in the throttle body make an attempt to cough and spit?

Imma CJ guy (Carbs)...I know little about your rig, but willing to attempt to help you with what I do know about Fuel Injection and Computer Vehicles.

Was your CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, when it was running?

Any History?

Can you test fuel pressure?

If you pull a plug wire, insert a Nail (ETC) contacting the loop inside, are you getting a popping--blue--spark from 3/8 of an inch away from metal on the engine?

Yes it is a wrangler.my old one was a 80 cj.
It doesn't spit it just spins and when we stop the start cycle it then injets fuel twice. if we pour fuel thru the carb it will try to start. noengine light on. new pump and filter. when we disconect the fuel line we have flow. with all the sensors on the carb it difficult to determine what way to go next.

We got good spark....Ignition sounds OK

Lets try a Little more fuel down the Throttle Body----Not too little, Not so much to flood it

Might even be better (if no starter fluid handy) Put a little gas in a squirt bottle, and sorta spray it in, AS IT'S BEING CRANKED

DO THIS AWAY FROM THE HOUSE AND OTHER VEHICLES!

HAVE A BLANKET READY FOR A SMALL FIRE!

HAVE AN EXTINGUISHER READY IF ITS TOO MUCH FOR THE BLANKET!

We're really still trying to determine whether this is a FUEL PROBLEM----or----AN IGNITION PROBLEM!!!

If it's lack of fuel---this squirt test will verify that, if it STARTS/ TRIES TO START/ OR really is TRYING!!!

Insure you are up to par with your battery....Jump it, for this test if you have run it down!

I just went to Autozone and Advance Auto ONLINE(Learning your Rig) to see what your ignition module (they do not call it that) looks like....In case your spark was a NO SHOW......Seems to be a lot different than a CJ and more expensive (it may be TESTABLE, at the store)......I think they are calling it a "CONTROL MODULE" and they vary in what they look like (several for your year)

Never the less, You say you have WONDERFUL SPARK----a little "Cheating The Fuel System, with the SPRAY" -----SHOULD POINT OUT A FUEL PROBLEM

IF A NO GO---GIVE ME A SPARK TEST ON EACH SPARK PLUG WIRE.

All righty then--I mis-read your stuff about the INJECTOR---Thought you said at 1st it was giving you fuel

Last time you installed a Fuel Filter?.....Maybe it wouldn't hurt if it's time any way


Actual Fuel pressure may be important as to run the injectors
