I have an 1989 Jaguar XJ6 - how do I bypass the oil cooler? What parts do I need?

Oil cooler was damaged and all oil leaked out of car. Needs to be replaced. Mechanic says with parts and labour $1140. When looking into found out I could bypass the oil cooler all together. Mechanic made out like this is a difficult process but it seems that it would be quite simple to me. What exact parts would I need and how do I do it?

An oil cooler is an important component. I don't advise eliminating it.

Even if car is being used as a winter car only in Canada. Just want to get 1-2 more winters out of it - on the road running. Its definitely not a collector car just my winter beater. I see a lot of people on UK forum - just take their oil cooler out. I actually believe 89 or 90 might have been the last year they even put them in these cars

You can always just buy an external cooler and hook that up. It will come with instructions.
