My car went from running properly, to cutting out starving for gas,

Checked fuel pump was o.k.now truck won't start and fuel pump is not operating. i checked the fuel pump this morning because my truck was cutting out and starving for gas.the fuel pump was functioning properly however the truck was still staving for gas, now it wont start.please advise.
