I have an 89 gmc sierra 350 motor replaced thermostat had loosened the whole tension pulley and part cause i thought the brackets on the back of it needed to be removed was wrong then i tightened the tension pulley back up with belt on when i tried to start it then it acted like the battery was dead so i tried jumping it tried to start again belt broke and it started right up so i got a new belt put it on and it is acting like the battery dead again but I'm sure it would start again without the belt on when i try to spin them myself all the pulleys spin freely when i checked without a belt HELP?

If it wasn't doing that before you replaced the Stat-Load test the battery and double check connection-start here

the battery is good and connection is good it seems like when the belt is on tight that something is holding the belt from moving freely like it should but like i said when the belt is off all the pulleys spin freely and it will start right up without the belt on

If that's the case best double check all the driven component pulleys-AC, PS, Alt-or the engine is seizing up-
