1989 Ford Tempo ac & fan motor

Sounds like you have a loose ground connection. Check on the underside of the blower motor housing.

checked for ground and power to fan motor, grnd good but no power, with the ignition switch on and blower switch on. since my last question the turn signals have quit working. in t he owners manual it describes #5 position as turn signal lamps and ac fan controller relay, the trouble is that the fuse box in the book is different from the car. on the car there is not a place indicating turn signals and or ac fan controller. could there be another panel or inline relay or does the push button panel control these functions.

My reference shows the AC fan relay behind the glovebox on the right side of the dash. The turn signal flasher is the plastic or metal (most likely plastic on your car) can mounted on the fuse panel.

the fan controller test ok. could it possibly be the ignition switch, due to the fact that the flashers work fine. this is to me is the only common link between the 2 prob's.

It's possible, but doubtful. The hazard flashers are on a completely different circuit that gets power directly from the fuse panel.

When you say the fan controller checks good, I presume you mean that you see resistance but continuity through the switch as you cycle through the settings? Or do you mean the relay is receiving and passing power? Have you checked to see if you're getting power to the fan switch on the dash? The switch that controls the fan speed.

every thing I checked referenced back to the ignition switch. sure enough I replaced the ignition switch, it corrected the problem. you may want to forward this info. to any one that has a progressive function failure. thank you for your help. jim
