hi. i have a small block chevy that i'm putting back together and i ran into a problem. i replaced a piston and used the old connecting rod. it had to be pressed onto the old connecting rod and that was a lot of work. when i went to put it in i became aware that i did not match the forward notch on the piston to the forward orientation of the connecting rod. its simple enough to just spin the whole thing 180 and put it in with the piston forward mark the wrong way so that the connecting rod is in correct. will this do any damage? summed up what im asking is does it matter what direction the piston is in the motor. the outside of the piston is symmetrical and the valve relief notches on the top look symmetrical. i figured it wouldn't matter because depending on which cylinder i put it in it can change weather the notch is under exhaust or intake. what do you think? do i need to take it apart and repress or is fine with the piston turned 180 from how it is marked?
