Hi Guys, ( I really don't know where to start) First I'll tell you what is New/rebuilt in the past 1 year.
Tranny-rebuilt-Amco.
Both Heads-reman-Cyclinder head world.
(Vally-Pan/Heads- ect All New Gaskets)
universol Catalytic Converter.(cheapest one)
New Radiator.
EGR,TPS,PCV,IAC,MAP,S-Plugs,Wires,Coils All Gaskets New.
Just Yesterday, I put a new Fuel-Pressure-Regulator in, the car has been running rich, after reading A LOT-and it Sounding just like the problem, plus it has never been changed, I replaced it...
NOW!! I went to get a Smog Test at( Smog Only) Today. HAH!!

While it was being tested, I saw Lite Blue Smoke coming out of the tail pipe( I have NEVER seen ANYTHING come out the back) NOT only did I NOT pass, there was a Pin-Prick hole found in the Radiator it over heated. ( thats no big deal, have a life-time Warranty). The guys there were saying that its--A:( Piston Rings)B:(Valve Guides)C:(Valve Stem Seals) and or a Catalytic Converter.

I do ALL the work myself, Can you guys tell me,Besides Selling it, what would be your next step..
(Replacing,Checking, Testing, looking for? ANYTHING!)

(I have a Box of Hasting P-Rings from 88 same make/modle/eng.)

first i will say, thanks for the donation it means alot to us and helps us provide this service.

secondly i will tell you if your not aware, that blue smoke means there is a presence of oil being burned with your fuel and air mixture.

and ill tell you what they've told you sofar about the causes of blue exhaust are true, the piston rings, valve guides, and valve stem seals.

My first step would be using a compression tester and getting the pressure for each cylinder and write them all down, then add about a teaspoon of oil to one cylinder and perform the test again, if the pressure gets quite a bit higher then chances are the rings are worn, what the oil does is seals the rings and causes less pressure to leak out causing the higher reading, but if the rings were good then oil wouldnt matter!

If the readings are good and the oil isnt that big of a determining factor the next step would be checking the valve stem seals and the valve guides, check for cracks on them. you can replace them with the heads on the vehicle if you use compressed air blown into the cylinder yoru working on to keep the valves up so they dont fall in the cylinders.

the Compression test I did a few day ago, But Not with the Oil in each Cyclinder. YET!! I'll do that in just a few. I'm going to give you the readings of the first test ( no oil) now.

Firering Order 1,3,5,2,4,6-back to front-L to R.
135,170,175
150,170 175
Note) the #2 piston was changed with a new one.

the 135 pressure and 150 are a bit low and dont seem to be following with the pattern try the oil thing and see if it helps dramatically.

what cylinder had the 135 read and the 150? are they adjacent from eachother in the head? right next to eachother?

try the oil and get back.

Hi, the 135 is the Back Head. #1 Cyclin-
the 150 is the Front. #2 cyclin-

the Back Head in order of fire-- 1,3,5
(With OIL)...........................................................
180, 175, 180
(No OIL)..............................................................
135, 170, 175

the Front Head in order of fire--2,4,6
(With OIL)...........................................................
160, 175, 180
(No OIL)..............................................................
150, 170, 175

I'm Hoping you can understand this.(above)
as I stated in the last post, the #2 piston was changed. Both Heads were bot from Cyclinder Head World, they stated ALL the Seals & Valves were New ones?
I'm going to get this post up so you can see it. I have a few more thing I'd like to ask, but for now here you go!! Thank You for your Help!! Bob..

cylnder one is definetely showing bad piston rings. or maybe worn piston bores.

cylinder two is showing a slightly worn piston rings, but the compression still isnt high enough, maybe the valves are sticking on it or a tad dirty or the rings could be badly worn.

so i have a feeling your problem is in worn piston rings.

Damn, Not what I wanted to hear, But...............

I wanted to get that last post up ASAP and had a few other things to ask/state.( if I may, here goes)

No Oil Anywere!!
when I took eack Plug off (first time).
eack one was Covered with Soot(Not Oil). I used a rag to wipe them off( very eszy to clean-off) Soot NOT Oil. the Tail pipe was the same-Soot.
IS This Burnt Oil or something else?????????????

I just remembered)

after the Back Head 1,3,5 was put on, next came the intake Manifold. as I was Torqiung the bolts down,the bolt that goes to the Left-Bottom part of the head, Snaped-off( which is the out side of the #1 Piston. a friend took the head to work & Re-threaded it for me. I have never been comfortible with it, But up till now, I haven't had any problems (1 year+)
Could this be whats going on((Low Compression--Soot??????????))

there is usually alittle bit of soot that is on the spark plugs, but when its in the tailpipe, it sounds to me like it is running a bit rich.

black soot indicates a vehicle running rich.

There is no doubt that its burning oil, get that fixed than if it still smokes a bit it could be that its running rich.
