My 89 Buick Century has a terrible squealing sound which worsens as it warms up. What is this?

When I start the car, it is very slight, but as it warms up, the squealing gets worse and louder.

It sounds like a belt. Try this. When you hear it, take a small amount of water and pour it on the belt while the engine is running. Does the noise change?

Yes the noise subsided, so does it just need oiled or something? How do I fix it?

Okay, that tells me one of three things. Either the belt is loose due to a bad tensionier, the belt needs replaced, or one of the belt driven accessories is locking up and causing the noise. Check belt condition and tension first. IF they are good, remove the belt and check each belt driven accessories to see if any are hard to turn or making noise.

Let me know what you find.
