About to attempt to change water pump on an old Ford sierra 2.0, 1988. The pump is connected to alternator link on left side, and on right bolted under timing belt cover. Fan is viscous. The leak is coming from around the flange. Looks simple enough, but worried about messing the timing belt up. As far as I can tell, I need remove only the timing belt cover to get at the bolt on that side of the water pump, so looks as if I don't have to touch the timing belt at all - is this correct? Is there anything else I need to consider that could mess up the timing and end up damaging the valves?
