I just replaced the heater core in my 1988 ford f250 and it is leaking in the cab again and producing white smoke. Why is this? I replaced the core with one i had lying around and it leaked horribly. I then purchased one from Autozone and installed it.
I checked the hose clamps and they were tight and the hose seemed to be firmly attached. However, when i start the car and allow it to heat up enough for the heater to run, almost inevitably it leaks and produces a smoke from what I believe to be coolant. My truck runs on propane so coolant is vital to it running and I am stranded until I can figure out where this leak is coming from.
