1988 Dodge Raider Throwout bearing

I recently had the transmission rebuilt and I'm having a problem reinstalling the throwout bearing assembly. The transmission shop removed the bearing assembly and just returned the parts. As far as I can tell there's just a metal fork that connects to the slave piston, a 1 piece throwout
Bearing, and 2 wire clips. I'd thought that I
Installed it the only way possible, with the fork
Under the bearing, but there seemed to be too much
Play in the fork-slave connection. Any help
Or diagrams that you could
Provide? Thanks much!

Hello,

Ok, Not sure pic will help. Anyway, just to be clear the larger diameter side goes toward the engine, behind that should be a channel and small diameter thin area the fork goes in the channel. Will look for better pic and post.

Thanks! The diagram reassures me that I'm not too far off. The transmission shop gave me a box of replaced parts which included the old throwout bearing and clutch release lever. I was worried that I missed installing a bushing or something. The end of the clutch release lever was way too far from the slave piston to engage the clutch. I know that I did have the large flat end of the throwout bearing facing the engine with the forks of the
Clutch release lever connected with clips behind
The throwout bearing, closest to the transmission. It seemed to only
Fit one way, but something is wrong.

That explains it. The clutch release lever forks go between the TO
Bearing and the engine. Now I just have to pop
The transmission out again to fix it : )
