i have i guess what they call a 8 bolt gov-lock rear end its making a whining grinding noise oil is full and clean in pumpkin.was thinking if i cant fix.will a 14 bolt gov lock fit in its place along with three quarter ton spring.

why dont' check in a junkyard for same type rear end. lot easier to replace. you can use up to a 1992. make sure it's same ratio

Thank you i will check into that.can i swap out leaf springs also from the half ton to three quarter?

I don't think so as they are a lot wider than the half ton been a while on that truck. don't know why you would want to do that anyhow when you can add a leaf or put in coil over shocks anyhow
