no power in my steering column or ignition

My radio lights up but does not work. My high beem button works and thats it in the cab, whats wrong.. I just had a new motor installed and a body lift put in, but my steering column was not touched.

make sure there is power to the ignition switch. make sure the fusible links at the starter are ok as well.

What are the fusible links? Would that stop the truck from having no dash Ganges work, window dont go up or down, when i turn on the key it does nothing. All that works in the headlight switch? how do i test the power?

if you do not know what these are, it may be best to let someone help you with this like a shop.

they are wires that are like fuses but they burn in half when something is wrong.

there are 2 wires that go to the starter, when i took the starter off to change the motor i let it hang but no wires got broke.

I think you need a shop to help you here as you are not familiar with the diagnostics.

Is there a way i can check the fusible links at the top were they bolt into the firewall or what do i have to do to check them? Please help

you need a voltmeter and check for power on both sides of the links

On a 1988 chevy k1500 there is only 2 wires that go to the starter correct?
