1988 Chevrolet Other of acceleration while driving

I have a 1988 454 Chevy it's actually in an RV when I'm driving down long stretches of highway I get a raw fuel smell in the cab and my speed drops drastically even though the accelerator is pressed to the floor to where I have to pull over and this doesn't seem to happen in stop and go traffic thank you in advance todd
