The fuel pump on the 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity with the 2.8L engine operates with an electric motor and is designed to deliver fuel at a specific pressure to the fuel injectors. Here's some information about the fuel pump pressure and voltage for this vehicle:

Fuel Pump Pressure: The fuel pump in the 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity 2.8L engine is typically designed to deliver fuel at a pressure of around 9 to 13 psi (pounds per square inch). This pressure range is essential to ensure proper fuel atomization and delivery to the engine's fuel injectors.

Fuel Pump Voltage: The fuel pump in this vehicle operates on 12 volts, which is the standard voltage in most automotive electrical systems. The fuel pump receives power from the vehicle's electrical system, specifically from the fuel pump relay, which is controlled by the engine control module (ECM).

Testing Fuel Pump Pressure: To check the fuel pump pressure, you can use a fuel pressure gauge that connects to the fuel rail or a fuel line test port. Locate the test port on the fuel rail and connect the gauge to it. Then, turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. The fuel pump should activate for a few seconds, and the pressure gauge should show the fuel pressure within the specified range (9 to 13 psi). If the pressure is significantly lower or higher than the specified range, there may be an issue with the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or other components in the fuel delivery system.

The pressure is way low try smacking the center of the gas tank with the palm of your hand while someone is cranking it.See if it starts or the pressure goes up?

I thought 40--47 psi was about right for fuel pressure. I used to have an 88 celeb 2.8L, it was mfi. I just thought the person might want to know the correct pressure. Have a good day.
