1987 mercedes benz 560 sl

I have the same year/model. You will need at least 3 people to get it off. Two people holding the top, and one person engaging and releasing the latch. Keep trying till you get it off. I have had this problem in the past and the only advice I can give you is to grease the entire assembly once you get the hard top off and it should work fine from then on. Good luck
