1987 Mazda b2200 exhaust leak

I had a broken gasket so I changed it out but I still got a problem going somehow it still sounds about the same as before..it is between the headers and catalytic converter. The gasket was completely shot so I went to Mazda got a new gasket and changed it out but it still sounds like their is a leak..I'm wondering what I did wrong..

If you have an exhaust leak, it could be anything. Most likely, you did nothing wrong. Check the exhaust manifold gasket. Also, make sure the catalytic converter isn't plugging. If the vehicle is outside, have a helper place his foot over the end of the exhaust. That will build back pressure and hopefully help you find where the leak is located. NOTE: I'm sure you already know this, but don't run the vehicle in an enclosed area. Make sure you have enough ventilation.

I ensured all other gaskets are in good shape Nd I don't know what plugging means..I have a o2 sensor but the engine is now carbureted I believe it is a spark plug that isn't in correctly. Could that be my issue?

If you have a loose plug, it will make a hissing sound when the piston comes up. So, yes, that could be an issue.

Sounds like air shooting out of the engine but it sounds like its from the top of the engine!

Check and make sure all plugs are tight and properly threaded. If they are, recheck the exhaust manifold. Make sure there are no leaks there as well as the intake gasket.
