1987 Ford Aerostar misfire, shuts off

Try checking the fuel pressure if its within specs-start here

all ignition parts have been changed including distributor which was removed and disturbed for the replacement. I followed procedures: compression stroke #1 top dead center, dropped in distributor, fired but now there's current being displaced causing the engine to want to shut off at certain points while running

where is the EGR located on this engine?

Did you make sure the rotor is pointing to the cap's no.1 position-The EGR valve is on the left fender apron

compression stroke is top dead center, rotor pointing to is on #1 position but not sure if distributor gear is in proper alignment with PIP. could I be off a tooth and if so, which direction should I go?? tx

Could be take it back out and re-align and try again-What about the fuel pressure is it up to snuff-

fuel pressure regulator and pump are new with relays..
it seems this van has no EGR? I know what they look like but could never locate one on the engine and finding out many 87 owners don't have one as well was a surprise...
i'll retrace my steps again and get back to you but if there's any other possibility please let me know what else I can try. tx john

TPS is good, how do I test the MAP sensor? Tx

ok, I just looked up a video on testing the MAP sensor so I'm gonna give it a shot.

just bought a new MAP sensor and installing now, I got a code when I tested the old one so I hope this resolves the issue, will let you know. tx john

ok, so van has much better power when running BUT I'm still getting a misfire and hesitation, not as bad as before and I drove it a few miles and back. with the power I have now it was good I changed out the map sensor, I just don't know why it's still misfiring???

raz, just drove it and damn thing shut off 2x! I now have a code 61
