Carburetor models 5220 and 6520 are 2-stage, 2-venturi type. Primary venturi is smaller than secondary. Secondary stage is mechanically operated by linkage to primary and secondary throttle levers.
those really seem like casting numbers if you have like this then you have one of the other numbered carbs. just go to an autoparts to get akit they can figure it out as i'm sure that is what you want anyhow. if it looks like the pic it's a 2280 model.

No... There should be a tag on the top of the carb (held in with a screw) that identifies the model of the carb.

That should identify what carb you have. I have to tell you, my nephew and I are in the middle of building an 87 dakota. We are cutting things away under the hood to fit a 440ci in it. This should be interesting to say the least.

I have no knowledge of engines, and I'm wondering what the difference is between carburetors and throttle-body injection, and electronic fuel injection?

A carb functions from the engine's vacuum. Throttle body is electric and injects fuel through an injector which is run by the computer. The throttle body is a type of electronic fuel injection. There is also multi port fuel injection whereas all cylenders have their own injectors.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

U get fuel 2 the thottle body carb. but the 2 injectors in the carb. aren't releasing fuel into the carb. . I think its a sensor or module like the pick-up coil or the stop-run module or whatever tells the injectors 2 release fuel 2 the engine.

That's a throttle body, not a carburetor. Before you get wrapped around the axle and pedal down the wrong road, you need to do a complete diagnosis and check for spark. More than likely it's missing too. The common cause is the pickup assembly under the rotor in the distributor.

Pulses from the pickup assembly tells the engine computer to turn on the Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay. That relay sends voltage to the alternator field, the injector, the ignition coil, and the fuel pump or pump relay. If you have spark during cranking, the ASD relay has to be turning on and the pickup assembly has to be working. Chances are it's not.
