Hello, my New Yorker has been idling rough and has hesitation when I accelerate but once it gets going it runs fine. I did a tune up on it and nothing changed. Someone reccomended that i change the fuel filter since the car has been ran down to the bottom of the tank on numerous occasions. I've noticed the problem get worse each time I ran it to low fuel. The engine is a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder turbo. I am going to change the fuel filter myself but i cant figure out how to disable the fuel pump. I read online that the 87's dont have fuel pump relays but they do have an auto shutdown relay which shuts down the fuel pump. I just cant figure out where exactly it is on the car or how to disable it. Im pretty much just trying to find out exactly what i am supposed to do to get the fuel out of the lines so i can change out the fuel filter. I am also curious if you think the fuel filter is the problem and any other tips if it ends up not being the problem would be appreciated. Thank you.
