1987 Chevrolet Camaro Valves floating??

Have a 87 camaro with a 383 stroker motor in it. Runs really good up to about 5000-5500rpm then seems like it hits a rev limiter and runs out of power. Found some same issues online so decided to adjust the valves and it made it a little better but still stops making power at 5500. Valve springs look good but not sure how to tell if they are floating at higher rpm. Thanks for the help!

need to know a lot of things, timing what is it set at,carb size, mufflers or just through headers etc. what cam do you have? is it supposed to give power to higher rpms? has the cam been degreed?

Not sure what the timing is set at just messed with the distributor until it ran the best and started good. Carb is a holley 670 with 73 jets in front and 75 in back. Has headers and 3 inch exhaust all the way to flow master muffler. Can is a comp can part number 12-242-2. Think that is rated to at least 6000 rpm

are the valve springs matched to the cam? you may be not having enough backpressure causing the problem. doe it do the same with open headers? try setting timing at 37 degrees total advance(check at about 2000 rpm.) Also you may need more carb cfm or try richening your jets in back and if yo have metering rods that are adjustable go with larger ones.

Yes the valve springs are from the same kit just not sure how old they are. I'll try bigger jets and messing with the distributor and see if that helps at all
