Car mileage 180,000 km and piston rings were changed, head gasket and valve seals replaced, engine oil chamber opened and then siliconed. Then i put 20W-50 engine oil and engine ran a little hard when starting, but is ok once started. Now i changed the engine oil after 3000 Km, and my mechanic told me to put a thinner oil, 10W-40. Is thinner oil will be better? Or should i use the same thick engine oil of 20W-50 ? please comment.

i like 20-50 on older vehicles. but i by whats on sale so i get 10-30 and 10-40 also. i also use LUCAS oil stabilizer to keep more oil in the bearings when not running. increases viscosity to.
