When attempting to accelerate the engine bogs down?

The first thing I recommend checking is fuel pressure. It sounds like it is starving for fuel. Here are the directions listed for your vehicle. The directions include pressure specifications.

1. Release fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect fuel inlet hose from injection unit and tee in a suitable pressure gauge.
3. Start engine and check for fuel leaks, then check pressure gauge reading. At idle, fuel pressure should be approximately 14 psi on 1986 Pickup and 1987-88 2WD Sentra or 36 psi on 1987-88 Pathfinder, Pickup, Van and 4WD Sentra.
4. Release fuel system pressure, then remove pressure gauge and reconnect fuel line.

My truck is not fuel injected. It has a carburator.(sp) I'm going to replace the fuel filter today to see if that helps.I also will check fuel line pressure. Thank you.

No problem. If you have a carburetor, with the engine off, open the choke plate so you can see into the carburetor,. Next, have a helper pump the gas from the inside of the car. You should see a mist of gas shoot into the venture. If there isn't any, then the accelerator pump is bad. That will cause a bog until the air fuel mixture regulates itself.

Also, I strongly recommend checking for vacuum leaks. Make sure the base plate gasket where the carburetor, and intake meet, isn't leaking. I've even seen the carburetor, loose in some cases. I have also seen play in the shaft that holds the throttle plate allow air to cause problems.
