1986 Mazda b2000 engine stops running

While driving the tach will start fluctuating and motor shuts off.... sometimes it restarts and sometimes it doesnt. Happens while driving and idleing and will sometimes crank back up and sometimes it wont... any ideas???

Have the distributor and ignition coil checked. Fluctuating rpm usually is a fault with the ignition coil. when it fails to restart, test for spark at the plugs.
