hi my car a 1986 australian ford xf surges sometimes when cold but when its at operating temp it does not i cant figure it out thanks

Replace the fuel filter as a starting point, drain the fuel from the old filter into a clean container and if it is very dirty, remove the fuel rail and clean and get the injectors serviced as well, start here.
