i can slide the distributor strait out, and there doesnt seem to be any damage to the cylinder or the hex looking spindle at the bottom of it. when we spin it, and it only feels like there is very light resistance. also there is nothing coming from the coil at all.

yes if the distributor gear looks good and you can spin it then you have a broken timeing chain if you have a v-8 if a six then timeing gear or chain. remove oil cap look inside crank engine you sholul see rockers moving up and down check compression
you need to remove the front cover on the engine behind the crank pulley you will need to remove the radiator as well . if you look in our how too section it will give you detailed info on this repair
