Well I'm just trying to put positive traction rear end on my 1986. Monte Carlo . A.and I am trying to see what all year/model/makes are compatible to my car. I went to a couple of junkyards but I'm not sure which rear end matches

probably anything from an s truck Camaro impala etc. it's a 7.5 rear end. Pontiac is 7.5 but a little bigger.

make sure it's the same gear ratio though as different ratios take different carriers that are posi a nd not posi.
