what regular maintenance will I be looking at

i want to buy a 1986 Chevy blazer 4x4 190,000 miles & its. from California what problems will i have. price with trade $1000? how long of life does it have & i need it cuz they will take my 1994 tracker as a trade in so no car payment

Plan on ball joints every other year if this is the smaller Blazer. They eat 'em and suspension and alignment mechanics love 'em because they make a lot of money repairing them.

1986 is the last year GM used their really good generator with the two-pin plug on the side near the rear. In 1987 they went to the world's worst pile ever and they're still using that disaster today. You'll have just an Engine Computer. That is REAL good news. I still drive an '88 Grand Caravan in the road salt capital of the world, Wisconsin, because it too doesn't have all the insane, unnecessary computers to do things computers were never needed for before.

Sounds funny, but I'm all for trading a '94 model for an '86.
