This is for winter use whereby when starting from cold, heated air from the exhaust is directed into the intake manifold. If you do not have any winter conditions, it can be omitted.

OH THAT vacuum motor. you see a vacuum motor is really just an actuator and vehicles of that age use them in diff places. i was thinkin there was a more OBVIOUSLY obtrusive/power robbing "motor" somewhere.
