Alternator wiring diagrams obviously something else is wrong?

Ok, here is my problem. I have a 1984 Dodge Ram D150 (no that's not the problem). The battery died a few days, so I bought a new one, it ran for about a day then died. I thought it was the alternator, so I replaced that along with the voltage regulator. I restarted the car and when the truck is running my voltmeter only shows about 12.35 Volts from the battery, so obviously something else is wrong, I just don't know what. there is continuity between the alternator and the voltage regulator, and also between the alternator and the battery. My forte is British Motorcycles, so I am out of ideas. Please help!
