transmission goes to shift and motor stalls

the cars runs fine in park but when is in gear and goes to shift to the next gear the motor stalls and has to be put back in park or nuteral to start again

start with a fuel pressure check.

ok tried that could it be the switch behind the gas pedal that actually causes the car to shift and downshift
