I had a problem at the weekend with the temperature rising in my mini. After shutting the engine off & inspecting under the bonnet I could see a large amount of milky water had mixed with oil & been blown out of a breather. What can be? Pistons rings or head gasket? Many thanks

Most likely the head gasket. Rings wouldn't cause the two to mix.

After thought... Does the motor oil in the engine seem to be a creamy tan substance?

Yes. Is like coffee with milk. But my big concern is the milky oil is coming out of the engine breather. Thank you very much

That is the result of a bad head gasket. Excessive pressure is building in the crank case. Don't run the engine until it is fixed and the oil and filter are changed.
