Recently bought a 350 4-bolt to build to put into a Trans Am. Trying to decode the engine and something isn't adding up. Casting number is 14010207 which from what I've been able to find is for a 1980-85 4bolt truck 350, the engine vin is V0117ABA which is telling me a Flint manufactured engine built on January 17 however the engine suffix ABA says that it is a 1978 truck engine. Had actually picked up 2 350 short blocks for $135 and the other one is casting 3970010 (1969-79 350 2 or 4 bolt) and engine code V0610TYZ which is Flint Engine built June 10 suffix says 1975 truck engine. I'll be pulling pan of to see if I got two 4 bolt blocks or just one. Since it came from same plant as the 4 bolt and is a truck engine I'm guessing a 4 bolt.

just use the 4 bolt main. many engines are made in certain years and never used for a period.

just build it up and enjoy
