1982 Daihatsu Charade 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
It's actually a 3cyl . .I just HAD the engine mounts replaced,so it's probably not them causing it,but I can't seem to get the idle to relax and smooth out . .it's always 'chuggy' . .I have checked the vacuum hoses ans they seem ok,and it runs well at speed . .there seems to be a 'harmonic' factor at plat here too,as at certain points in the RPM range it nearly vibrates the car to pieces . .the only way I am able to drive it is to keep the idle super-low(around 600) . .the thing is,too,is that I am adjusting the idle by metering the brass knurled screw at the rear of the carb . .the idle stop does nothing . .I'm probably f***ing around with the mixture,uh? The plugs and leads are in good nick, but I haven't checked the fuel filter as the enging zips in the higher RPM range . .the exhaust may have a tiny flange leak as it's a bit 'boomy' . .I dunno . .
