I have a 1981 280zx with just over 100,000 miles. Bought her 1 1/2 years ago in unbelieveably great condition inside and out and i have had nothing but smooth sailing since. except for now the moter started making a lot of noise so i had someone look at it and they said that i needed a valve adjustment-cost 300.00. my question is what exactly is a valve adjustment? what to they do? and is 300.00 fair? and is this just the start of something bigger?
