I have replaced the ignition module, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, also have had a new fuel pump installed and lined the tank. I still have no spark or injection pulse. When testing I left key on for 10-15 minutes I happened to bump the coil with the back of my hand and notice it was VERY WARM. Don't know if that's normal or not. If I take my power probe and stick it in the coil wire coming out to distributor cap and turn engine over it read a ground not hot. Maybe testing it wrong? I am thinking a ground problem or bad pcm. I would love for any help I could get. The car by the way is a 1980 Lincoln mark 6 with a 302 TBI. Also the distributor rotor button is the 2 prong style. Something I have never since.

Suspect the pick-up coil in the distributor.

Wrenchtech there is no pick-up coil in the distributor on this motor. Would the crank sensor take the pick-up coils place?

I don't think they had even heard of Crank sensors in 1980. Are you sure you have the year right. None of this is making sense.

Ok maybe im wrong on the pick-up coil. Im not sure. I had never seen a rotor like that one until I did the tune up. It was not easy to find. I remove the rotor I am not seeing the pick-up coil. Is there another cover I need to take off or is it in a remote location. Any help would be great. Please be patient with me I don't know to much on these older cars.

Then it's probably time for you to stop. Changing a pick-up coil is very difficult. The distributor has to be removed and completely disassembled. You probably should just buy a reman dist.

If I get a new distributor can I get one with the single rotor contact or does it have to be the one with the dual contacts.

There is only one distributor and one rotor that fits that car.

when I went to the parts store the first rotor they gave me looked like a normal rotor. When I popped the cap off the rotor that was under the cap had two brass
tabs. One was up higher than the other one. The cap had 8 contacts 4 high and 4 low. There are no wire coming out of the distributor not even a slot for them to come out. This is a very odd distributor. This car is also throttle body injected. Looks a lot like the 87-95 chevy system with two big injectors on top of the throttle body. Im going to pull the #1 plug and bring it up to TDC when I get off work to make sure it has not jumped time. I do know that the 302 in those years had some type of plastic gear over the steel timing gears and they where really bad about braking off and jumping time.

You would know by the sound if you had no compression but you'd better make sure the rotor is actually turning.
