Manual transmission oil leak

Hello
My name is Dave, I have a two questions that will hopefully narrow the cause. Have you happened to check the oil in the transmission and if so does it have the same "chocolate milk" appearance and if not does the engine oil have that look. I would fully expect one of the two to show mixing with water if we can start there then that will help to narrow down the cause. Hope to hear back from you soon and thanks for using 2CarPros!

Sounds like the front transmission seal is failing, this would be the one in the front bearing cap.

My suspicions with the transmission juice is that the transmission has been submerged. Along with that, the transfer case and both differentials will most likely be the same way when you drain them.

Have you done any drive-train fluid change outs with your Jeep?

Hi, yes I drained the manual transmission fluid. As you can see in the picture color matches the leak from the starter.

Unless your engine oil is looking the same, It has to be your transmission leaking.

Just a possibility that you may have gotten lucky.

If the transmission was way overfilled with water, the transmission fluid and goo may have forced its way past the seal.

It may be worth a try to drain your entire drive train (both differentials, transfer case, and transmission) and get them to the proper levels. Maybe the seal(s) will hold now.

Now refill them through the fill holes and they all will be full when the fluid starts to come back out of the fill holes. I usually then give them two or three additional squirts and quickly screw the plugs back in. In the future I can barely screw a plug out, if I get fluid running out of the hole, I know it is still full.

Hi. After draining the fluids out several times. Fluid does seems to be much cleaner. I still need to flush it out several more times since it is still not clean.
