First get a fuel test pressure kit. Advance Auto and Auto Zone have these on a loaner basis. There is a test port on the fuel rail and the kit will have adapters. Either let the car sit overnight or realize that fuel at ove 50 PSI is waiting for you to let it loose if you loosen a bolt or anything on the fuel system without waiting.
I do not have the pressure specs for your car as my manual does not go back that far. If it is carberated, it should be around 7 PSI or so and fuel inject would be around 25+ PSI. That is a guesstimate thoguh so when you gpo to the auto store have them try to look up the spec or get a Haynes manual. The Hayens will be helpful as it will walk you through the test.
Hook up the gauge and then start the car. Remove vacuum or other connector on fuel reulator to see if pressure goes up. If it does that is good.
