CAN AN ALTERNATOR PROBLEM-GENERATING LOW VOLTAGE AS TESTED - PRODUCE ENGINE OVERHEATING ON A PORCHE 924 YEAR 1978 i JUST FOUND OUT THAT MY ALTERNATOR IS GENERATING 12 VOLTS INSTEAD OF THE CORRECT VOLTAGE THAT SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS, SO THE ALTERNATOR IS NOT WORKING WELL, THAT WILL EXPLAIN WHY IT DOES DIE ON ME, BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT DIES WHEN OVERHEATING...IS THE ALTERNATOR PROBLEM CREATING THE OVERHEATING? OR IT IS A PARALEL PROBLEM?

The alternator seems to be fine, but while trying to cover all the stages of troubleshooting, I found that the alternator v-belt and the alternator itself can be moved by hand,

IF THE V-BELT OF THE ALTERNATOR IS LOOSE, COULD THIS BE THE CAUSE FOR FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION ALSO OF THE OIL PUMP AND THE WATER PUMP, BOTH CONNECTED ALSO TO THE V-BELT ?
