I am not getting fire from the coil(I replaced) to the distributor. I noticed when I turn on headlights on, one is bright and one is dim.. Could a ground problem prevent the car from starting..

Possibly. Is power getting to the coil? Is there continuity between the points and the negative side of the coil? What about the coil wire itself?

Switch the headlights around and see if the problem follows the switch. If so, replace the headlight. If not, look at the wiring for it.

Crank the engine over. You should see the negative pulse at the coil. It should not be constant, otherwise the field in the coil is unable to collapse, thus you won't get a spark out of it.
