Car cranks but won't fire.I only get spark at coil when I turn key from start to off. There's no spark (at coil) during crank. Current is at coil at start and cranking position. The car has New:alternator,external voltage regulator, ballast resister, and control mod. This is where it gets really strange. With the old alternator with the fields switched the car turns right over. How ever you won't get a charge that way. So I installed the New alternator and put the field wires the way it says no spark. The alternator is putting out voltage. So. I figured it worked once so I switched the field wires no spark. If you guys figure this one out I will praise you to whomever I meet. Thanks Joe

check resistance of pickup coil in dist should be 150-900 ohms and set at .008-.010 gap with a non magnetic feeler gauge. check coil resistance. check to make sure dk green wire goes to regulator and dk blue goes to ignition module. see pic. your wiring may be screwed up or tampered with causing the other problem.

IF YOUR COIL HAS AN INTERNAL RESISTOR - YOU PROBABLY DON'T NEED MR. BALLAST RESISTOR

IF IT DOES NOT HAVE AN INTERNAL RESISTOR, YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED IT
