have an assistant watch the fuel gauge ground out wire and see if gauge goes to full if it does then the sending unit may have partial ground in it or the wire may be in bad shape or the sending unit is no good. for the dash light s check the fuse first if ok then check toseeif power is going to dash is stillno lights check bulbs and then check the circuit board on back it may be broken.

Hmac300, GOOD ADVISE ON THE SENDING UNIT---GROUNDING THE "SENDER WIRE"

----I BELIEVE THAT WOULD BE THE "PINK ONE" ATTACHED TO THE TOP OF THE SENDER, ON ALOT OF THE AMC VEHICLES, A "CONNECTOR" IS ON THE WIRE NEAR THE TANK, IT IS EZ TO ACCESS....THIS KEEPS YOU FROM CRAMMING YOU HAND ON TO OF THE TANK......SIMPLY DISCONNECT IT, THEN "TEMPORARILY" GROUND THE END HEADED BACK TOWARDS THE GAUGES..........WHAT ARE THE RESULTS WITH THE GAUGE?

AS FAR AS THE DASH LIGHTS, I THINK THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ROTATES TO "DIM" OR COMPLETELY "TURN OFF" THE DASH LIGHTS.....MAYBE IT'S ROTATED TO "OFF"???

COULD BE THIS "FEATURE" IS NO LONGER WORKING, WHEN IT'S "ON IT'S WAY OUT", TURNING THE KNOB, THE DASH LIGHTS FLICKER AND ARE ERRATIC

---TURNING IT TILL IT "CLICKS" (I THINK) WILL TURN THE DOME LIGHT ON

KEEP US POSTED ON PROGRESS OR IF YOU NEED MORE HELP

......IN MY JEEP PIC---THE GAUGE TEST WOULD MEAN I'D TAKE THE YELLOW ALLIGATOR CLIP OFF OF THE SENDER AND GROUND IT TO A GOOD GROUND (IN MY PIC, IT'S OUT OF THE TANK...PRETEND IT'S STILL IN THERE!).......'MEMBER, THE KEY HAS TO BE "ON" !!!
