Beetle oil leak on pully

This happens when the O rings to the oil cooler or the oil cooler goes bad you will need to remove the air fan assembly to get to it.

i have a 73 super beetle the underneath passenger side of the motor leaks oil onto the heat exchanger looked the top of the motor over diddnt see any oil its leaking but i cannot see it on the side of motor what gaskets could i try to replace and whjen it leaks on the heat exchanger on that side when its hot the oil smokes let me know thanks chris

More than likely this will be push rod tube seals, but check rocker cover gasket as well as this is a quick check and fix.

My bug is leaking oil between the engine and transmisson when running a steady stream. I have replaced the rear main oil seal the gland nut and lock washer & the o-ring in the flywheel but it is still leaking. What am I missing?

you will still have problems if the seal surface was marked or there is excessive end float in the crank shaft.

can i check the push rod tube seal and the rocker cover gasket with the motor in the car please let me know thanks

you can do this in situ you will have to give the engine a good wash down underneath first, with the engine cleaned, it will be easier to see any fresh oil leaks developing.

I have a 1970 vw beetle. 1600 carburated 4 speed, my wife had to have the cute car. After driving it for a while smoke comes out of the engine compartment. When I open the engine compartment it seems to be coming from the right side near the firewall or fan shroud. It's as if someone spilled oil on the motor and it is burning off. there are some oil drips but no major loss of oil that would suggest and oil leak onto the case. any ideas? the heater seems to be letting in exhaust but I think that must be a problem with the heat exchangers and/ or hoses

valve cover gaskets or tube seals. have a shop check it for you. they are pretty simple to repair.

It has to be oil. There is no coolant. I agree with ASEmaster8371. Most likely the valve covers.
